We pushed the Limits: How we transformed Volunteering in 2024
In a year that started with bold goals, the Micii Giganti team not only achieved them, but also spectacularly exceeded them. We demonstrated that passion, organization and innovation can transform any idea into reality. And we didn’t stop at the usual activities; we brought an absolute premiere in volunteering in Romania, which differentiates us from any other similar initiative.

Blockchain Technology: A New Standard in Volunteering
For the first time in Romania, we integrated blockchain technology into volunteer management. Each member of our team received a wallet on the MultiversX platform, which allowed them to monitor their presence and activities in a completely transparent and innovative way. Our system was simple, yet revolutionary: each volunteer received a personalized badge with a unique QR code.
At each activity, the code was scanned, and the time spent was automatically converted into MEX tokens – 60 minutes equaling 60 MEX. This method gave us a clear and detailed picture of each volunteer’s involvement, as well as an effective motivational system. The tokens accumulated were not only an indicator of the time invested, but also a measure of dedication, being used in the reward process at the end of the year.

Results beyond expectations
Thanks to this innovation, we were able to track the progress of each volunteer in real time. The system not only simplified the monitoring process, but also created a healthy competition among team members, stimulating engagement and loyalty. From beginners to the most active volunteers, everyone saw their work recognized and rewarded.
We changed the rules of the game and demonstrated that technology can revolutionize even the most human initiatives. In part two, we’ll explore what else we brought and how this method has propelled us towards a better organized and more efficient future.

Tehnologie, transparență și inovație: Premiera voluntarilor Micii Giganți
During 2024, blockchain technology was more than just a monitoring tool – it became a gamification tool that stimulated our team’s engagement. Each volunteer had access to a transparent platform where they could see the progress of their colleagues and monitor their own position in the engagement leaderboard. This system transformed the simple act of attending activities into a friendly competition, where dedication became the key to success.
Simple, meritocratic and transparent awards
In the last months of the year, especially between October and December, we organized the awarding activity for the most active volunteers. The system was simple: we divided the number of MEX tokens in each account by 60, which instantly gave us the exact number of volunteer hours accumulated by each member. This method allowed us to recognize the efforts of each volunteer in a fair and clear way, without ambiguities or subjective preferences.
Rewarding the most engaged members was just the beginning. This transparency created a culture of recognition, where every minute spent supporting the community was valued.
In the process of monitoring volunteer involvement, we adopted strict verification measures to ensure the correctness and accuracy of the data. Only MEX transferred from the organization’s official account, @xomg, was taken into account for calculating volunteer time. This system provided a clear and objective record of each member’s involvement.
To validate all transfers, we used explorer.multiversx.com, the official exploration platform of the MultiversX blockchain. In addition, each activity was associated with public posts on Facebook and Instagram, providing double verification of task completion. Thus, we created a transparent and secure ecosystem that guaranteed that all work was recognized and fairly rewarded.
This approach, based on technology and transparency, has not only raised the standards of volunteering, but has also given our volunteers the assurance that every contribution counts and is appreciated. We continue to innovate and encourage active involvement in the community!
Innovations for the future
For 2025, we continue to build on this innovative foundation. We will introduce a new digital element: NFTs (non-fungible tokens), which will serve as digital certificates for the skills acquired by volunteers as a result of the activities. These NFTs will be personalized for each volunteer, giving them a unique way to demonstrate their skills and involvement. (We have already experimented in the community with NFTs https://smallgiants.ro/)
The MultiversX blockchain remains the central pillar of these projects due to its minimal costs and user-friendly interface. In the future, we aim to explore new digital opportunities that will make our activities more efficient and accessible, strengthening the connection between technology and volunteering.
With these initiatives, we are not only adapting to the times, but we are also giving our volunteers the tools they need to be part of a modern and relevant movement. 2024 was just the beginning, and what comes next will be even more spectacular. #MultiversX2024 & #MultiversX2025 & #xOMG
